Kilowatt Ours Interviews

Arthur Rosenfeld, PhD - Commissioner, California Energy Commission

Arthur Rosenfeld - Part One

Chapter Eight

  • Once you set up building standards so that energy efficiency is taken into account you don't need people to be so aware of energy use.
  • The low flow shower head is a significant energy saver. If the roof is white and reflective people don't have to think on that.
  • If we save just 1% per year by standards that is like a huge oil well under all of our major cities.

Arthur Rosenfeld - Part One

Chapter Eight

  • Demonstrates chart of energy use of history before embargo and after. California versus the rest of the country. The results are quite amazing.
  • If we had not gotten our energy policy act together we would have had a huge energy bill now that would be economic difficulty.
  • In electricity only, California was run on 7,000 KwHrs at the time of the embargo and has managed with our policies to keep that constant. The US is still rising.
