Dian Grueneich - Part One

Chapter Eight

  • We have saved our energy users over $30 Billion during the past 30 years.
  • Energy Conservation has to be the highest priority of all our energy needs.
  • Before we embark on any increases on the supply side we must evaluate and invest in all effective energy conservation options.

Dian Grueneich - Part Two

Chapter Eight

  • We wanted to set a vision over ten years and this is what we expect our utilities to do.
  • We will save 5,000 megawatts and that is about the savings of ten new power plants.
  • The payback is phenominal. For every dollar that our utilities spend on energy conservation they save two dollars. The other dollar is available to reinvest.

Dian Grueneich - Part Three

Chapter Eight

  • We do not need 2000 new power plants as Dick Cheney called for. Through our investment in energy efficiency we will not need any new power plants. We will just replace old ones as needed.
  • AB-32 is the most important bill in this century. I am wildly enthusiastic that we are taking this step and to gain the national attention.
  • By 2020 we will get down to the level of greenhouse gasses that were present in 1990.
